“I am so proud and honoured to be a patron of Sara’s Hope Foundation. Never in a million years did I imagine when I took Ged and Julie to Crete for A Place in the Sun that they would start a charity that will bring such joy to so many families. Having a child is one of life’s most precious gifts and from the moment they are placed into your arms there is an overwhelming urge to protect them. We all hope and pray our children will grow up happy and healthy. Cancer isn’t fussy, it doesn’t care who it affects, old or young. The death of a child is something that no parent should ever have to go through. Sara’s Hope Foundation will give children and their families the chance to create magical memories that will be with them for eternity. Please, please dig deep. Your generosity is so important to helping Ged and Julie realise the dream they have held for so long and will go a long way towards giving children suffering from cancer and their families the precious gift of beautiful memories.”
Sara’s parents Ged and Julie say:
“We first met Amanda Lamb in 2006 when our family was chosen to be filmed for A Place in the Sun. Amanda was so lovely to us and immediately put us at ease, it was very emotional doing the show as we knew Sara would have loved to live on the island. Thanks to Amanda and her team we found our own place in the sun and have since spent many happy times in our apartment. In 2007 Amanda invited us to attend the A Place in the Sun Live Exhibition in Manchester and very kindly helped the us raise awareness of the charity from the stage. It was at this event that Julie and I plucked up the courage to ask her to be the first official Patron of the Foundation – we were over the moon and so thrilled when she accepted. Amanda is such a wonderful and enthusiastic ambassador and it is an privilege to have her on board”
